A non-project related gaming post

Today I was browsing a copy of March's Game Informer magazine. The first 8 pages were four 2-page spread advertisements. Each of these ads were the exact same style: a derelict, destroyed city (2 of them skylines), flanked by a soldier wielding heavy weaponry (3 of them with bulky assault rifles). All 4 ads were in washed out gray and brown colors, with only a red glow being a source of contrast, and all have a short tagline plastered in the middle of everything.

The games were: Killzone 2, Resistance: Retribution, Tom Clancy's HAWX, and Resident Evil 5. The RE5 one fit that template the least, but it still felt like it was in the same category. Individually, they all work fine as advertisements, but seeing four of the same thing in a row sort of makes it a joke. There needs to be more focus on creativity in advertising, not just a formulaic pretty scene.

Swarmer, I know exactly what you're talking about here. I used to read EGM (WHY?? WHY DID YOU DIE ON ME??), and after awhile, a few of the games all start to blend together.

Thanks for the comment, by the way. I don't usually have anything extra-curricular to do during the week, so if you want, I can draw up some sketches.

Well, maybe not sketches, seeing as how my drawings suck crap, but at least some ideas.
Looking forward to reading about day 2!
